John Conlon from East Kentwood selected 2007-2008 NSCAA Coach of the Year:

On Friday night, January 18, in Baltimore, MD, Soccer Coach John Conlon, from East Kentwood, received the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Coach of the Year Award (for High School Boys) from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).  John was a Division One Regional NSCAA coach of the year (along with Division One Girls' Coach Brian O'Leary from Novi High School and Scott Forester, Division Two Boys' Coach, Dexter High School).  John, a long time member of the the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association (MHSSCA) and its current acting President, was nominated after a successful season leading the boy's team from EK to a State Soccer Championship in the Fall of 2007, and was ranked nationally for most of the season this past fall.

John becomes the second coach in two years from the MHSSCA's 40 plus years of history to receive a National Coach of the Year Award.  Although the MHSSCA has had many Regional winners, John became only the second winner of this pretisgious award.  Last year, Randy Heethius was the 2007 Girls is the first coach to make it to the final level, as the winner of the Private/Parochial High School Girls division.
